Juniper House

We had a great time staying at Juniper House. We all agreed the layout of the home was perfect, as well as the location, since we attended the Rose Bowl game. The place was clean, and the manager was accommodating. We hope to be back the next time our school is in the Rose Bowl! Next year?

This was our second time staying in Juniper House. We love the place, and the location is unbeatable: a lovely residential neighborhood that doesn't feel at all like it's in a megalopolis. And best of all: San Gabriel mountain trails begin just a few blocks from the house.

We loved it because it was only a mile from our friend & we know the area well. There were some minor issues but we have rented property from this company before & their managers/staff is very responsive. Definitely will stay again.

This is a great mid century home, not quite where we expected. We were visiting family close by. The house was cute and included laundry and a nice surprise of some snacks on our late arrival. Beds were comfortable and our son slept well on the air mattress. The property manager was very responsive to our questions. The couch really needs to be replaced though. And the yard was sufficient but looked bigger on the photos. Parking was a bit tight - we actually had a neighbor put a note on our car because we couldn't park right in front of the house. The kitchen was very well equipped. They included so many supplies throughout the house, including laundry detergent. Overall a good experience!

Juniper House is set in a quiet neighborhood in the Altadena foothills, a 12 minute drive north above Pasadena. The home is small but very comfortable, well-furnished, beautifully designed and the host has thought of every possible need you might have. My only concern: I would caution anyone who expects quick access to grocery, coffee shops and gas stations--these things are not close by, all are 10 to 12 minutes away by car. You are getting away from it all up in these quiet foothills. Once settled, we enjoyed sitting by the fireplace with friends and relaxing. It's a nice little spot to escape to.

We stayed in this home for two weeks in January and found it very comfortable. We were welcomed by a gift basket of treats which was a sweet touch after a long day of traveling. It was so nice to have a private patio with plenty of seating options and even a grill (which we never got around to using). It was also great to have a washer and dryer on hand. The furniture was comfortable. The bathrooms were clean and updated. The gas fireplace in the living room was a big plus for the cool winter evenings and made sitting in front of the TV a cozy experience. At one point the water heater died and our host was super quick to respond and had it replaced immediately. The neighborhood is lovely and I'm glad I got to experience it. I had not stayed in the foothills before and I like to walk for exercise, but hadn't realized how steep some of the streets would feel to me! I thought I'd walk the 3/4 of a mile down the foothills but soon realized I wasn't going to be comfortable walking the turning stretch of road that crests the canyon and has very little room for a pedestrian on the drop-off side and no room on the other side. Instead I drove down to Pasadena and walked the (flatter) neighborhoods there. Pasadena is not far and there was plenty to do and see there, but we always enjoyed coming back to our place in the foothills, as it had all the comforts of home and felt very private.

Second time staying here. Very comfortable. There were minor improvements that did not hinder our stay & when I mentioned them to Kate she was very receptive to my suggestions. Property is about 15 min from downtown Pasadena in the foothills with lots of trees. Close to 210 fwy & La Canada - an upscale little town. Will definitely stay again!

Interesting location. Took a hike up into the mountains. A little off the beaten path. Very clean. A minor bug problem in small bath. Loved the sofa. Hot water heater needs an expansion tank. Kitchen was very nice. Ate on the patio a couple of times.

We had a very pleasant experience during our stay at Juniper House. The house had everything we could possibly need including a fully outfitted kitchen, washer, dryer, extra towels, etc. Furniture was comfortable. It was very easy for us to contact the management when we had a question. The only negative was that most of our activities were in Pasadena, and the property is a bit out of the way in that sense. We used our GPS and were able to maneuver ourselves to the freeway and shopping areas.

We booked a 4 night stay at Juniper House for not the best of occasions-my father's funeral-and wanted a home to go back to as opposed to a hotel. This lovely home is situated on a very quiet street with such friendly, caring neighbors-they even gave us hiking trail recommendations within walking distance. The home itself was lovely and had all the conveniences and amenities of home. From the lovely welcome basket to the furnishings, you can tell that Kate really cares for the property and wants to make sure you have all that you need. We really could not have asked for anything more from our stay. Thank you and will book again if we are in the area again.

Everything was as expected and more. Super clean, well stocked kitchen (would suggest a non-stick pan for cooking eggs - those darn things just love to cling to the current pans!); ceiling fans worked and only had to turn on the ac once. We love natural air cooling so we did have the security door open as much as we could. It would have been ideal to be able to keep the sliding door open but there is no screen door. Also, the sliding door needs to be replaced as there is a long crack in it held together with tape. The outside patio is very chill and comfortable. I was a little bit concerned with the low hanging wires out there, so just be careful not to touch them. Quiet and peaceful neighborhood. Will stay here again. Easy to book, quick responses from management.

This little mid-century modern was very cozy. It can easily accommodate two couples as it has two full bathrooms. The master bed was wonderfully comfortable. The kitchen was very well-equipped, with just about every utensil that you would need to make very good meals. There is a mom and pop grocery store about seven minutes away and Pasadena is very close if you want fine dining. Our stay was in December, and the gas fireplace was wonderful as we had cool temperatures and rain.

My wife and I stayed here for three weeks while I worked on business. The set up was perfect and the entire place was as advertised. The beds were super comfortable, the wi-fi and TV worked great and the kitchen was well stocked with kitchen ware. It was super clean. The property is nestled in the foothills and is super quiet with very little traffic. All in all a great stay!

This home was great to stay at. It was well equipped with all the items needed to prepare meals every night. The home is close to hiking trails and we enjoyed strolling around the neighborhood most mornings. We had an empty gas canister for our BBQ which Bart came an replaced right away. Helena gave us a list of suggestions for restaurants and we had a wonderful meal at Juliennes. The service was good and we were happy with the location and the home itself had everything we needed. I highly recommend this home.

The Juniper House was very comfortable. The house was very clean and it was nice to have tiled floors vs carpet. All the accommodations were great. We were welcomed with a welcome basket that was very nice, a nice bottle of red wine too! The patio area was nice and the gas grill worked great! Both beds were very comfortable, they felt like new mattresses. The neighborhood was quiet and it was easy access to the interstate.

My family and I occupied the Juniper House for about a week. Upon arrival we were greeted by a complimentary bottle of wine and several snacks. The Juniper met our expectations with enough space for 6 people, comfortable beds, clean showers and all the equipment needed to feel at home. We enjoyed early mornings on the back patio, watching hummingbirds and parrots and walked the area to find orange, lemon and pomegranate trees. We ended the evening in a comfortable house in a quite neighborhood. Thank you for making our stay worth the drive!

I cannot say enough about the property manger rep. Kate. Very attentive and in frequent communication to make sure our stay was a good one.
The interior was very comfortable and clean and efficient. our TV did not work the whole time but it didn't matter as we were too busy anyway.
The exterior of the house is not attractive but the interior was totally acceptable and the location, high in the hills was beautiful and away from the hustle and bustle of the big city. Birds chipping and the occasional helicopter was about all that we heard. It suited our needs very well.

Great vacation rental! We stayed here during the rose bowl and had an exceptional experience! The condo itself was very clean and had everything we needed for our 5 night stay. The location is absolutely beautiful,close to the foothills. We walked to trails and hiked a few days. Short drive to Old Town Pasedena. It was about a $10 uber ride. Also close to the local supermarket, where we got groceries for our stay. I'd definitely stay here again!

Very clean and nicely furnished home. We especially enjoyed the patio where we watched wild parrots in the morning and afternoon. We had a water pipe break on our last night which made quite a mess. The property management very quickly sent us to another house nearby for our last night. They made a bad situation go away very quickly. Thank you.

Juniper house is adorable, and was absolutely perfect for a friend and me to share for our weekend workshop in pasadena. It was quick and easy drive to the convention center, but once we got back to juniper house it felt like we were far away from the hustle and bustle. The outside patio is awesome- a great spot for some yoga in the morning, or wine-ing down in the evening. The whole experience was really easy and enjoyable

It was such a cool place to stay...
We were 4 guys staying there and had enough room. Everything was fine, except we had an issue with some ants, but they had a spray in the kitchen to fix it.
Another issue with the sink had been fixed within hours. Very nice and professional contact !
It ?s been a quite place to stay, but you ?ll definately need a car to get everywhere.

We really enjoyed our stay and found a perfect home for two awesome weeks !

We loved our 5-day stay in Juniper House! We're not keen on LA, particular the sprawl and the need to drive terrifying speeds on freeways for hours whenever wanting to go anywhere. Juniper House is in a lovely neighborhood that feels like an oasis in the middle of the BIG city, and it's just a few blocks away from the San Gabriel foothills where we took lovely walks each day we were there. My husband is a serious cook, and he was able to create his usual spectacular meals in the kitchen. Would love to rent Juniper House again if we were to come with another couple.

From start to finish the whole experience went well. From Kate's quick responses, showing me the house prior to renting, correspondence prior to check in, responding to an issue at the house during our stay and check out, we couldn't have asked for anything more. The only issue is that the floors could have been cleaner. Probably took more notice than usual because we have a toddler who did a lot of crawling around on it.

A clean well stocked interior. Beds very comfortable. House size is ideal for 2 people, but can handle 4 given second bedroom. Master bathroom is very small. House overall is small, hardly a thousand square feet. Patio area was not usable. Soiled and frayed garden cushions. No attempt had been made to clean it prior to our arrival. Cable was not accessible in living room. Tile floors would benefit from some area rugs in bedrooms.

Very comfortable upgraded unit and we loved the goodies provided. Because of the rain we weren't able to use the patio, but we had a very nice stay. The heater was out when we got back for our last night but the owner was very prompt in getting a portable heater out to us. Only 13 minutes from our daughter so it was very convenient.

My family and I stayed in the Juniper House for six weeks in Jan/Feb of 2021. We loved it. Its remote enough to feel like you are out of the city, but close enough to be convenient to downtown Pasadena. We loved our family hikes in the trails just up the hill from the house. The house had everything we needed to feel very comfy during our transition to California from Texas. Property was just as described and management was very easy to work with.

We had a fantastic time on our recent trip with our recent high school graduate. This rental was so close to Hollywood and downtown LA that it was so easy for us to see all of the things we wanted to do without spending forever in the car. The patio was a really lovely place to relax and watch the birds in the morning with a cup of coffee. Overall it was an awesome stay and we would definitely return.

The Juniper House is a very nice rental that was immaculately clean and well equipped. It also has central air conditioning which is essential on warm Southern California days. The condominium is a short drive from downtown Altadena and has easy access to freeways that allow you to sightsee in the Los Angeles area.

We stayed here only three nights, but we wished we could have stayed longer. The house almost demanded it, as it is very well designed for 2 couples. It has such good storage for clothing, bags, coolers etc that we felt 100% moved in right away. The neighborhood is lovely and quiet.

Perfectly little getaway!
This was the perfect little getaway for me and my two dogs. What I loved about it included just how dog friendly the place was. The owner took the time to provide couch and chair covers to protect the furniture. My dogs were comfortable. And it really made me feel like my dogs were welcome and not just tolerated. The decor was so well thought out from the gorgeous plush rug in the living room, the mid-century modern nightstands, and the really cool light over the dining room table. The location was quite nice. It was super easy to get to fantastic food locations as well. i will definitely stay here again if I have the chance!

My family and I needed to stay here in between a move and we were very happy with the location. The house is in the Meadows area of Altadena and is very quiet and serene. The house is nicely updated and well appointed. Our only complaint is that the previous renter must've had a cat/pet as there was cat hair everywhere, which was very unpleasant. Other than that we enjoyed our stay and would recommend this rental to friends/family.

Good communications, easy reservations, clear directions, super helpful. Very clean and well-equipped home - they thought of everything! Owner called during our stay to confirm all was well, and the management company was very responsive to a few issues we had.
It is an older renovated property, so we had some challenges with the electrical system. Couldn't run a hair dryer and microwave at the same time, etc. Had to keep lights off to run curling iron or hair dryer, and go outside to flip breakers back on. One power outage was at night, when only our grandbaby and a sitter were there (she used the microwave). We arrived shortly after and they were in the dark, so we had to flip breakers. It was a heat-wave, so maybe the power draw in the area was creating a problem? Not sure.
But apart from the electrical issues and the momentary frustrations that caused (as in trying to get ready for my son's wedding, and breakers going off while I was trying to do my hair!) it is a well-equipped and great place to stay.
You will need a car or Uber, as it is located way up in the hills in a completely residential area.

Our stay here was great, it was home away from home. There were 4 adults and we had plenty of room. It was clean, with comfy beds etc. Took a few minutes to find the washer and dryer because we are from Canada and the weather in Canada do not allow to have a washer and dryer outside. The only thing I would suggest would be to add a tv to the other bedroom. Other than that our stay was awesome.
