From the moment you step into this sanctuary you will feel truly on vacation. The house is so comfortable and artfully decorated (lovely lighting, artwork, attention to detail) you won't want to leave. The charming garden is private with several sitting areas--table for lunch? firepit for that glass of wine in the evening? alongside the fountain for breakfast coffee? We begged an extra day because we didn't want to leave this little oasis. Hard to believe you are only 30 minutes from LA and 10 from downtown Pasadena. Hiking trails nearby will take you up to the city views if you prefer to enjoy from afar. Can't recommend this enough...everything was fabulous.

The house is absolutely beautiful, and the appliances top-notch. We also LOVED the big, quiet yard and deck. Downsides: the furniture is weirdly uncomfortable (couches too deep and short, queen bed pretty saggy, dining chairs rock-hard); the kitchen organization completely defies logic (if I'd had more time, honestly, I'd have taken on putting in some kind of logical arrangement!); and you can have either a 2nd bedroom or work space but not both. But overall, we really enjoyed out stay.

A very comfortable and inviting home with a lovely enclosed garden and a bright modern kitchen. I enjoyed watching the birds splash in the fountain while I drank my morning coffee. An easy walk to shops, restaurants and grocery stores. A very good experience.

We were in town with my sister and brother in law to visit friends and had a fantastic time staying in this wonderful home. Upon arriving we walked in the front door and were delighted with the tall ceilings and views to the gardens in the backyard. The home is so comfortable and interesting with neat personal touches throughout the home. We spent an evening out by the fire pit and ate in on several evenings - all the cookware we needed to make our dinners was available. Wonderful experience, we will definitely come again!

Englenook is a gem!
Quiet with a beautiful fenced in yard and large deck.
Everything you could want in a vacation rental.
Enjoyed our neighbors and the neighborhood felt safe for walking.
Management was efficient and responsive. Enjoyed working with them.

I live locally in Pasadena, but wanted to give myself a writing retreat. This house was perfect! It's quiet, peaceful and private. The house is filled with art and lovely light and the backyard was a perfect place to sit and write. The bed was comfortable and the house was clean. Being there was a wonderful experience.

The Englenook is a charming home with lots of architectural character. The home is clean, well maintained and stocked with essentials. The yard is nice with a number of spaces to read and relax. Our family had a wonderful stay in Altadena and we were able to easily enjoy points around Los Angeles throughout the weekend. I would highly recommend this property.

Fantastic!
Great space! It's a fantastic house tucked away in the center of a block, lots of privacy. The house itself is great -- tons of craftsman touches, art, books and great decor. Communications were fantastic throughout, very responsive to questions.

Behind a secure gate, on a mature trees lined street, this charming house was perfect for our long weekend getaway. So convenient to everything we had planned. The fenced in yard was great for our pups. We loved everything, just wish we could have stayed longer. We hope to return soon!

We love the Englenook. It is a true gem in the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains. The home is beautifully detailed and there is lots of privacy and a wonderful garden.

This was our second visit to Englenook and, like before, it did not disappoint. When traveling alone, I feel safe in this quiet and comfortably welcoming space. It is convenient to all our needs in Pasadena, Altadena, La Canada - the Rose Bowl, Huntington Library and Simon art museum, parks, stores and so on. I have one suggestion for furniture in the common area - a comfortable lounge chair with ottoman (a nice chair is in the master bedroom) - the two long lounging sofas are comfortable if laying on them but not for sitting (and reading a book for example). Just a suggestion - this would not prevent me from coming to this property again soon.

Conveniently located in the Pasadena area, this home was spotless, gourmet kitchen, full laundry, and all the basics--we shopped for groceries, but didn't have to buy salt and pepper, toilet paper, laundry soap, etc. as we have had to do with other vacation rentals. There was a lovely, private backyard, where we hung out at cocktail hour.

Let's just say that we could have moved in to the Inglenook easily...this former artist's studio is a beautiful, comfortable, well-located house for anyone visiting the LA area and looking for more than a hotel room. We came to visit our new grandchild and his parents for a week, and found this house perfect for our every need--large enough for all of us to spend quality time together (including a couple of nights), a deck and an enclosed yard (simply-but-elegantly-landscaped) for outdoor time, and a 1920's structure that retains all the attraction of its original design yet has been updated w/every modern convenience and is beautifully appointed. Management was most responsive on every level.Highly recommend!

We had a great stay In Englenook which we have stayed in before. The property is lovely and the secluded garden is a joy to sit in and relax. The house has most of what you need but it does require some care and attention to the details. Essentially everything in the house is getting old and a bit tired. The sofas etc need a deep clean or replacement. The kitchen is a chaotic collection of disparate items and needs more saucepans to easily cook a meal. The outdoor furniture is urgently in need of either new cushions or replacement. Despite all of this, we love the house and it’s location.

beautiful, tucked away property in quiet neighborhood near a school. Very comfortable bed, well-supplied kitchen. Very minor issue: on the television, I was unable to access over-the-air local channels. Instructions for the TV could maybe be revised to be a bit more detailed.

Quiet. Everything you need. Very private and yet totally convenient to shopping and hiking and freeways. Great communication with management. Great books! Great beds. Lovely deck. Fragrant roses etc. Great well stocked kitchen.

Englenook was a perfect place for us to stay. The house was spotlessly clean and very well equipped with everything we needed. The garden is a beautiful oasis that provides seating areas in sun or in shade throughout the day. An excellent property that we would highly recommend. We will certainly return.

My husband, adult granddaughter, and me stayed in this amazing cottage at the end of September into October of 2023. The atmosphere was peaceful and relaxing. The three of us were in awe of the collection of travel artifacts the family collected.
The bedrooms were on opposite ends of the cottage providing privacy as well as private bathrooms.

The cottage had high-end Viking appliances, which were a great surprise especially because we are foodies that love to cook. We enjoyed watching the squirrels play in the private yard, complete with eucalyptus and persimmon trees.

The property was well maintained and stocked with everything we needed...and then some! We were centrally located to restaurants, Pasadena Old Town, and the Rose Bowl, which was our concert venue. Our adventure to Santa Monica Pier was an easy drive.

We are expecting return visits to this area over the next few years and will certainly plan to return to this lovely, peaceful cottage.

Beautiful house. Great yard. Would definitely stay there again if in Altadena area. Management very helpful. Love all the old paintings and books. It’s the kind of house that makes you happy to just curl up, stay inside and not go anywhere. Great vegan food options in the Altadena/Pasadena area.

This is a lovely property. Design is appealing, deck and backyard space is wonderful. A quiet neighborhood and we felt very safe. Since we are on the "older" side of things, it could be helpful to have a comfy chair more available in the living space. Still we enjoyed our time here and will likely consider it again in the future.

I spent three weeks here so really got to know the place. The living area has a wonderful feel with its spaciousness and simplicity but it is the outdoors that adds the winning touch. The beautiful landscaping on a small lot creates a natural oasis. You can imagine the artist owner practicing her craft here. Definitely not a place to party. I recommend it for a couple or two friends who want to enjoy nature, reading, writing, yoga, cooking together or just a very quiet place to rest for a while. It was such a fabulous getaway. I am reluctant to give this review because I would like to keep this place a secret!

We had a lovely visit. The house was comfortable, spacious, and quiet. The beds were comfortable and the showers hot. The kitchen was well-stocked. We enjoyed the outdoor space; it was amazing! We had Thanksgiving dinner on the patio. The Japanese persimmon tree seems to be in distress. We made fires in the firepit twice. The artwork and pottery were nice touches. It was great having on-site parking!

All-in-all we had a very nice stay.

What a great house! We stayed here while some work was being done on our own home which is less than two miles away but this place felt far more removed. It felt like we were in a mountain cabin even though we were closer to shops etc. than our own place

We have found our home away from home! The perfect hideaway from city life, gorgeous architecture w all the best
amenities, great location and easy access to everything ! Private yard for your pup and great patio outside the French doors. Rooms on opposite sides of house for privacy or snore control! We loved it. Katy the neighbor an added foot if you are lucky enough to meet her.

With each visit to Altadena we choose to stay in this lovely artist’s cottage. Our recent stay was equally enjoyable. We were worried about the air conditioning in light of the 95° weather. It performed beautifully. The house was wonderfully clean, including the swept deck and outside furniture to enjoy in the early morning and late evenings. Questions were answered by text almost immediately.
